Jennifer Messer
Jennifer ran a busy and successful piano studio from 1990-2020. She is a registered RCM piano teacher and was awarded the highest mark in Ontario for the Royal Conservatory of Music’s Piano Pedagogy Certificate exam, having studied under Professor Jenny Regehr of the Glenn Gould School of Music.
Her piano students regularly received First Class Honours with Distinction results on their exams (90%+) and in the Kiwanis Festival and some of her students were awarded the highest honour of the RCM Gold Medal for highest graded piano mark in Ontario.
Jennifer was the President of the Gloucester Music Teachers’ Association for more than 10 years and was an active participant of the Gloucester Music Club for 15 years.
She has been the manager at Steinway Piano Gallery since 2016 and in 2023 she opened a new business, 10,000 Hours Piano Rehearsal Studios, which offers private grand piano rehearsal rooms and is the official RCM Examination Centre.
Jennifer has built several successful community programs in Ottawa, including the Steinway Young Performers’ Club, the Advanced Piano Performance Class series, Adult Music Sharing, The Learning Room Master Class Series, and the Ottawa East Junior Music Club. She has collaborated with many community organizations to coordinate programming, education and performance opportunities for youth, including the Pontiac Enchanté concert series as well as the Chamberfest, Jazzfest and Music and Beyond festivals. She works with several members of the National Arts Centre Orchestra (NACO) and the music departments at Université d’Ottawa and Carleton University, to bring high levels of music education to aspiring young artists in Ottawa.
Since 2016, Jennifer has been the regional coordinator for the Ottawa branch of the Crescendo Competition which annually provides top local students the opportunity to perform at Carnegie Hall in New York City.
Jennifer has also been recognized within her company as Steinway Canada’s regional Top Salesperson from 2016-2024. She performs regularly at her church as a soloist and within an ensemble and is the choir pianist.
