Muyang, a 14-year-old prodigy born in Waterloo, Ontario, has earned the prestigious RCM National Gold Medal for achieving the highest mark in Grade 10 piano among thousands of Canadian candidates. He has also distinguished himself on the international stage, winning top prizes at renowned piano competitions, including 2022 Henle Piano Competition and 2024 Canadian International Music Festival.

Now in his second year of ARCT-level piano studies, Muyang began his musical journey at the age of four, cultivating a deep passion for music. Since relocating to Ottawa in 2020, he has flourished under the mentorship of Dr. Chunson Park and has become an active and vibrant member of the musical community.

In the most recent competition season, Muyangearned eleven trophies (six trophies from the Kiwanis Music Festival) and the best diploma performance medal at regional competitions, and was awarded ten scholarships (amounting over three thousand dollars), highlighted by the Steinway Ottawa Gallery Top Overall Performance Award and Scholarship. He also achieved first and second places in both solo and concerto categories at the OMFA and ORMTA provincial piano competitions.

As a dedicated community performer, Muyang has given over 100 public performances in venues ranging from retirement homes to Rideau Hall, with a particular highlight being his two highly acclaimed solo recitals. He performed Beethoven’s Piano Concerto No. 2 with Thirteen Strings for the Music and Beyond, and his outstanding performance in the Ottawa Chamberfest City Series concert and Rising Star Concert received exceptional audience enthusiasm and critical praise.

Beyond performance, Muyang is an accomplished composer, creating works for solo piano, chamber ensembles, and full orchestra. His compositional talent was recognized with First Prize with Honors at the 2025 Music Composition and Music Video Production International Competition, in addition to numerous other senior-level regional and international awards.

Outside of music, Muyang excels in math and science. Last year, his academic achievements earned him admission to the International Baccalaureate program at Merivale High School in Ottawa.
