Steinway & Sons Model B - Serial No. 422364
“Louise”
This cherished piano is generously on loan by the Glatt family in memory of Harvey and Louise Glatt — two extraordinary souls whose lifelong devotion to music helped shape the cultural heartbeat of Ottawa.
For decades, Harvey and Louise opened their hearts and home to artists, dreamers, and music lovers. Their home, alive with the warmth of friendship and song, became a legendary gathering place where musicians like Pete Seeger, Bruce Cockburn, Supertramp, and Gordon Lightfoot would unwind, laugh, and play into the wee hours. When Louise brought her Steinway home in the 1980s it became a beloved centerpiece of the Glatt home, around which countless memories and melodies were made.
Harvey, a visionary impresario, and Louise, a compassionate champion of the arts, believed deeply in the power of music to connect and heal. It was their wish that this piano continue its journey in service to the Ottawa community — not as a relic, but as a living instrument of joy, creativity, and togetherness.
Today, this piano is a tribute to their love story, their legacy, and their unwavering belief that music should be shared widely, freely, and with open arms.
