Welcome to the 2026/2027 Season of the Ottawa East Junior Music Club
Ottawa East Junior Music Club welcomes music students from all over Ottawa, however the focus is on teachers and students who live in the East End of Ottawa (east of downtown). Our concerts take place monthly on Sunday afternoons.
Concert Day Schedule:
1:45pm - Doors open for the first concert. Please arrive with enough time to check in, change if needed, and find your seats.
2:00pm - First concert begins.
2:50pm - Doors open for the second concert.
3:00pm - OEJMC Booklet check-in & activity.
3:30pm - Second concert begins.
Each concert runs approximately 40-50 minutes
NEW THIS SEASON!
Club Activity Books - Each member of the Ottawa East Junior Music Club will receive their very own Activity Booklet at their first concert. Inside this booklet, members will find challenges for them to complete throughout the season. Each Concert Day, between concerts, there will be a Booklet check-in and booklet related activity. This is where you will receive the badges for your completed challenges.
Finishing the booklet throughout the season will give you the opportunity to earn rare and exclusive badges in May.
More booklet details will be revealed on October 18th, 2026 at our first concerts of the season!
Annual Membership Information
Becoming a member & joining the Club:
Members need to have a recommendation from their teachers to join. If they do not have a current teacher, they can request a one-time audition.
Memberships for current members do need to be renewed each season.

Drop-ins are not accepted for performances. Non-members who wish to perform must register with our registration form prior to the deadline for each concert.

FAQ’s
How many Concerts can I participate in during the season?
Members have the opportunity to perform up to 8 times over 8 concerts over the 2026/2027 season.
Do I have to perform in every concert to keep my membership?
No. There is no maximum or minimum performance requirements.
Can I play the same piece at different concerts?
You may repeat a selection once at a future concert.
Can I bring my sheet music?
Sheet music is not permitted and we encourage students to come performance ready. With that being said, we understand that there may be a time when you do require your sheet music. We will allow this once, but please have your piece memorized for your next performance.
Accompanists are allow sheet music.
Do I have to do anything before I play?
Yes. We ask that all students display proper stage etiquette during our concerts. This includes: introducing yourself, the title and composer of your peice, bowing prior to performing, and bowing after your performance.
Is there a dress code?
We ask that all students come performance ready. And this includes what you would wear to a regular performance. Please note, that outdoor shoes are NOT ALLOWED on stage and performers must bring proper, indoor footwear.
How many pieces can I perform?
You may perform 1 piece per concert and the time limits are as follows to ensure everyone has the opportunity to perform:
Beginner (RCM prep -5): 2 minutes
Intermediate (RCM 6-8): 5 minutes
Advanced (RCM 9+): 8 minute
Advanced club members (RCM Level 9 and above) may submit a piece longer than 8 minutes. If time permits during one of the two concerts, we will be able to accommodate longer performances. However, if time is limited, please be prepared with a shorter piece as an alternative.
Can I change my piece once it is submitted?
You can change your piece up until the Friday before the Concert at 4:00pm. No changes will be allowed after this.
If I am late to the concert, can I still perform? And, can I leave the concert early?
If you are late to your scheduled concert, you will be moved to the end of the program.
If you must leave the concert early, please ensure you let Mackenzie know by 4:00pm on the Friday before the concert day. Changes to the program will not be made after this and on the day of the concerts, the program will not be changed to accommodate any early departures.
Do the concert times ever change?
Occasionally, yes. If there is lower registration one month, the 2 concerts will be merged into one concert that will begin at 2:45pm. There also may be a time when a concert needs to be re-scheduled outside of our control. If this happens, we will make every effort to contact all performers as soon as we are aware of the date or time change.
